Spokane County Fire Protection District 5

Volunteer Opportunities

Become a Volunteer Firefighter or FF/ EMT

The process to be a volunteer firefighter is simple. Download a copy of an application or call the District Office 509-796-4793 and leave a message. The district administrator will contact you with information and mail you an application. Once you clear the interview and your medical exam you may be eligible for service. All volunteer firefighters are eligible for the volunteer pension. We also pay your class fee should you also want to be trained as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

Please Note:  At this time, we are only accepting volunteer applications from those people who are residents of Spokane County Fire District #5.  Should this change in the future, we will post it here.  Thank you.

The Dangers of Asbestos

Firefighters can expose themselves to dangers behond the actual fire that could be life threatening.  Asbestos exposure, chemical toxins and carbon monoxide poisoning are only some of the ancillary dangers that put firefighters at risk.  Most of the time, firefighters are not aware of some of these other dangers so we are teaming up with
